Why Direct Air Capture?
Limiting warming to 1.5°C above pre-Industrial Revolution levels will require the rapid decarbonization of polluting industries in this and the next decade, and removing billions of tons of historical emissions from the air in the decades to come.
While removing that much carbon dioxide from the atmosphere will require many approaches, Direct Air Capture is one of the only methods that is both measurable and permanent — a powerful combination.

At AirMyne, we’ve designed our process to avoid some of the most common barriers to scaling up: cost, input availability, energy, and safety. Everything we use — from our capture chemistry, to our system components — are low-cost and easy to source. We use a low-temperature thermal process, allowing us to tap into energy sources like waste steam and geothermal. We’ve also carefully designed our process to avoid flammable or toxic inputs, ensuring a safer environment for anyone inside or near to an AirMyne facility.
HOW IT WORKS
Liquid Chemistry, Low-Temperature Heat
Our process uses a liquid solvent capture agent to capture carbon dioxide from the air. The carbon dioxide-rich liquid is then funneled to a desorption unit, where it is heated, releasing a pure stream of carbon dioxide, ready to be locked away and out of sight.

Air is drawn into our air-liquid contactor using high-efficiency fans.

Our liquid solvent binds with carbon dioxide in the air while releasing the carbon-depleted air back to the environment.

The liquid solvent is pumped to a stripping column where pressurized steam releases the carbon dioxide for storage.

The carbon dioxide-depleted solvent is recycled back into the process, minimizing waste, and the process repeats.

Our job doesn’t stop at capturing carbon dioxide. AirMyne’s mission is to permanently lock away the carbon dioxide we capture by sequestering it underground in a safe & controlled way.
